Public libraries may apply for grants to host public programs around the PBS series “The Great American Read,” an eight-part television and online series designed to spark a national conversation about reading and the books that have inspired, moved, and shaped us, the ALA Public Programs Office announced.

Marcus Amaker to visit Irmo Branch Library in May

Charleston, SC’s first Poet Laureate, Marcus Amaker, will visit the Irmo Branch Library on May 11, 2018 and will read selections from his latest project, empath, starting at 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at 6:00 p.m. along with music by a jazz vibraphone musician in our café style setting. empath is much more than a boo.
