Marcus Amaker to visit Irmo Branch Library in May

Charleston, SC’s first Poet Laureate, Marcus Amaker, will visit the Irmo Branch Library on May 11, 2018 and will read selections from his latest project, empath, starting at 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at 6:00 p.m. along with music by a jazz vibraphone musician in our café style setting. empath is much more than a boo.

The South Carolina State Library is currently hosting an exhibit entitled Shadows of the Gullah Geechee.  This exhibit showcases the photography work of Pete Marovich which explores the lives and culture of the Gullah Geechee people in communities from Hog Hammock on Sapelo Island, Georgia to Mosquito Beach on Sol Legare Island, South Carolina.
